Auckland Electricians You Can Rely On
Bright Star Electrical is an Auckland electrical company with 20 years of electrical experience behind it. Residential, commercial and maintenance work across the city, seven days a week - done properly, tidily and signed off.
One Electrician for the Whole Job
Most electrical jobs are not one job. A new kitchen is a new circuit, new lights, new power points and, more often than not, a switchboard that cannot take another breaker. A solar system is panels on the roof, an inverter on the wall, an EV charger in the garage and the switchboard work that ties it all together. We do all of it, so you deal with one electrician from the first conversation to the final sign-off rather than three trades who each blame the other.
Bright Star Electrical is a new company built on 20 years of electrical experience. We are based in Mount Eden and we work the whole of Auckland - residential, commercial and maintenance. New builds and renovations, switchboard upgrades, solar with or without batteries, EV chargers, gas-to-electric conversions, data and wifi, home entertainment, CCTV and alarms, and heat pumps.
What we care about is the work being right. Tidy cabling, labelled switchboards, the right protection on every circuit, a clean site at the end of the day, and the certificate that says it was tested and complies. That is what 20 years teaches you matters, and it is what a new company gets judged on.

There is no shortage of electricians in Auckland. These are the things that separate one from another, and they are worth asking any electrician you talk to about.
- 20 years of electrical experience. The company is new; the electrical experience behind it is not. Residential, commercial and maintenance work, new builds through to fault-finding on a switchboard that has been added to for forty years.
- Open seven days, 7am to 7pm. Electrical problems do not keep office hours and neither do we. If the power is off on a Sunday, ring.
- Everything electrical, from one company. Solar, EV charging, heat pumps, data, CCTV and alarms are electrical work, and we do them ourselves rather than handing you to somebody else.
- Quoted properly, before we start. We look at the switchboard, the wiring and the access before we put a number on the job, so the quote is the price.
- Tidy work, clean site. Cables run straight and clipped, switchboards labelled, holes made good, and the mess gone before we leave.
- Tested and certified. Every job is tested, and you get the Certificate of Compliance or Electrical Safety Certificate that the regulations require for the work - the paperwork that matters when you sell, insure or rent the property.

Commercial Electrical and Maintenance in Auckland
Alongside the residential work, we look after commercial premises: shops, offices, cafes, workshops and small industrial units. New fit-outs, lighting upgrades, extra circuits for new equipment, distribution boards, data cabling, security cameras, and the ongoing maintenance that keeps a business trading - testing, repairs and fault-finding when something stops working at the worst possible time.
For commercial customers we will work around your hours. If the job has to happen before you open or after you close, that is when we do it.

What Happens After You Get in Touch
-
Tell us about the job
Ring, or send the form with roughly what you need and where. For a small job we can often give you a price on the phone; for anything bigger we will arrange a time to come and look.
-
We come out and quote it properly
We look at the switchboard, the wiring and the access before we put a number on it, so the quote is the price and not an estimate that grows.
-
The work is done, tested and signed off
Tidy work, a clean site at the end of the day, and the Certificate of Compliance or Electrical Safety Certificate that the regulations require for the work.
Electricians Across Auckland
We are based in Mount Eden and work the whole of Auckland - the central suburbs and the city, the North Shore, and out west, south and east.
Electricians in Mount Eden and Central Auckland
Home base. The villas and bungalows of Mount Eden, Kingsland, Sandringham, Grey Lynn and Ponsonby are a century old, and a lot of them still run on the wiring and fuse boards they were renovated around decades ago. Switchboard upgrades, rewires and new kitchen circuits are the everyday work here.
Electricians in Auckland CBD and the City Fringe
Apartments, offices, shops and hospitality fit-outs from the waterfront to Newmarket and Parnell. Body corporate access, isolation planning and work outside trading hours are part of the job in the city, and we plan for them.
Electricians in North Shore
Takapuna, Devonport, Milford, Glenfield and up to Albany and Long Bay. A big stock of 1960s and 70s brick-and-tile homes now due a switchboard, alongside new builds on the northern edge that want EV charging and solar-ready wiring from day one.
Electricians in West Auckland
Henderson, Te Atatū, Massey, Hobsonville Point and Kumeū. The north-west is where much of Auckland's new housing is going in, so new-build fit-outs, heat pumps and data cabling for new homes make up a lot of the work out here.
Electricians in South Auckland
Manukau, Papatoetoe, Manurewa, Papakura and the new suburbs around Flat Bush and Drury. Family homes, commercial units and warehouses - residential and commercial in the same day is normal for us in the south.
Electricians in East Auckland
Howick, Botany, Pakuranga, Half Moon Bay and Bucklands Beach. Established family homes where a heat pump, a home theatre or better wifi is the job, and the older houses along the coast where the switchboard is overdue.

Electrical Work in Auckland: Common Questions
The questions we get asked most often on the phone.
Do you do small jobs, or only big ones?
Both. A single new power point, a light that has stopped working or a tripping breaker is a job we will come out for, and so is a full new-build fit-out or a commercial premises. Small jobs are often how people find out what we are like to deal with before the big one comes along.
How do I know if my switchboard needs upgrading?
If it has ceramic or rewirable fuses rather than switches, if there are no RCDs (the safety switches with a test button), if breakers trip when you run two big appliances at once, it is almost certainly due. Adding a heat pump, an oven, an EV charger or solar may or may not need it - we can tell you in a few minutes when we look at it. There is more on the switchboard upgrades page.
Can you install solar as well as do the electrical work?
Yes. We install solar panels, with or without batteries, EV chargers, and we can convert an existing gas set-up to all-electric at the same time as the solar or as a separate job. It is all electrical work, and doing it as one job means one team and one visit rather than two.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. We are open seven days, 7am to 7pm. Weekends are often the easiest time for people to be home, and for commercial work they are often the only time the premises is empty.
Which parts of Auckland do you cover?
All of it. We are based in Mount Eden, so the central suburbs are on our doorstep, and we work the city, the North Shore, and out west, south and east every week. See the areas we cover.
Will I get a certificate for the work?
Yes. Prescribed electrical work in New Zealand has to be tested and certified, and you receive the Certificate of Compliance or Electrical Safety Certificate for the job. Keep it with the house papers - insurers, buyers and property managers ask for it.
Tell Us About the Job
A new build, a switchboard, solar, a heat pump, or a couple of extra power points - tell us what you need and roughly where, and we will come back to you with a price or a time to come and look. No obligation.
