Who We Are

Bright Star Electrical is a new company and an old hand. Behind the name is 20 years of electrical work - residential, commercial and maintenance - and the reason for starting the company was a simple one: to do that work the way it should be done, for people who would rather deal with the electrician than a call centre.

We are based in Mount Eden, in the middle of Auckland, and we work the whole city. New builds and renovations, switchboard upgrades, solar with or without batteries, EV chargers and gas-to-electric conversions, all the everyday electrical work in a home or a business, data and wifi, home entertainment, CCTV and alarms, and heat pumps. If it is electrical, it is ours.

How We Work

Twenty years teaches you what actually matters on an electrical job, and it is not the flashy part. It is the switchboard being labelled so the next person can read it. It is the cable being run straight, clipped and protected rather than draped through the ceiling. It is the right protection on every circuit, the holes made good, the site swept, and the certificate handed over at the end. It is quoting the job after looking at it rather than guessing at it, and telling you when something you have asked for is not the best way to do it.

It is also answering the phone. We are open seven days, 7am to 7pm, because electrical problems do not wait for Monday and because weekends are when most people are home.

One Electrician for the Whole Job

The thing we hear most often is that people are tired of coordinating trades. The solar installer who will not touch the switchboard. The heat pump company that needs "your electrician" to run a circuit first. The alarm company and the wifi company and the TV installer all drilling their own holes. We do all of it, so a job that is really one job - a house going all-electric, a new kitchen, a renovation, a new build - is done by one company with one number to ring.

New Company, Honest About It

We do not have a wall of reviews yet or a gallery of hundreds of jobs, because the company is new. What we do have is the experience, the standards and the willingness to turn up and do the work properly, and the first job is how we earn the second. Every job we do is tested and certified, and every customer gets the paperwork to prove it.

Where we work

Electricians Across Auckland

We are based in Mount Eden and work the whole of Auckland - the central suburbs and the city, the North Shore, and out west, south and east.

Electricians in Mount Eden and Central Auckland

Home base. The villas and bungalows of Mount Eden, Kingsland, Sandringham, Grey Lynn and Ponsonby are a century old, and a lot of them still run on the wiring and fuse boards they were renovated around decades ago. Switchboard upgrades, rewires and new kitchen circuits are the everyday work here.

Electricians in Auckland CBD and the City Fringe

Apartments, offices, shops and hospitality fit-outs from the waterfront to Newmarket and Parnell. Body corporate access, isolation planning and work outside trading hours are part of the job in the city, and we plan for them.

Electricians in North Shore

Takapuna, Devonport, Milford, Glenfield and up to Albany and Long Bay. A big stock of 1960s and 70s brick-and-tile homes now due a switchboard, alongside new builds on the northern edge that want EV charging and solar-ready wiring from day one.

Electricians in West Auckland

Henderson, Te Atatū, Massey, Hobsonville Point and Kumeū. The north-west is where much of Auckland's new housing is going in, so new-build fit-outs, heat pumps and data cabling for new homes make up a lot of the work out here.

Electricians in South Auckland

Manukau, Papatoetoe, Manurewa, Papakura and the new suburbs around Flat Bush and Drury. Family homes, commercial units and warehouses - residential and commercial in the same day is normal for us in the south.

Electricians in East Auckland

Howick, Botany, Pakuranga, Half Moon Bay and Bucklands Beach. Established family homes where a heat pump, a home theatre or better wifi is the job, and the older houses along the coast where the switchboard is overdue.

Questions People Ask About Us

Are you a new company?

Yes. Bright Star Electrical is new; the 20 years of electrical experience behind it is not. What that means for you is a small company that answers the phone, turns up, and cares a great deal about every job, because every job is our reputation.

Do you do commercial work as well as houses?

Yes. Residential, commercial and maintenance. Shops, offices, cafes, workshops and small industrial premises, including fit-outs, lighting, power for equipment, data and security, and the ongoing maintenance, scheduled around your trading hours.

Where are you based?

Mount Eden, in central Auckland. Most of the city is within half an hour of us, and we work all of it - see the areas we cover.

Is the work certified?

Always. Prescribed electrical work in New Zealand has to be tested and certified, and you receive the Certificate of Compliance or Electrical Safety Certificate for every job we do.
