New Build Electrical in Auckland
Complete electrical work for new homes, renovations and commercial builds, from the first cable in the framing to the switchboard, the fit-off and the certificate.
Wiring a House Right From the Start
A new build is the one time the wiring is easy to get to. Every cable, every outlet and every circuit can go exactly where it should, at a fraction of the cost of adding it later through a finished wall. That is why the electrical plan for a new home deserves more thought than it usually gets - and why we sit down with you and the plans before we pull a single cable.
We do the whole job: the pre-wire in the framing, the switchboard, the fit-off once the linings are on, the testing and the Certificate of Compliance the council and your insurer will want. And because we also install solar, EV chargers, heat pumps, data cabling, CCTV and alarms, the house can be wired for all of that from day one, even if some of it is not going in until later.
What We Do on a New Build
- Pre-wire. Power, lighting, switching, oven and hob circuits, hot water, heat pump circuits, exterior and garage, all run in the framing before the linings go on.
- The switchboard. A new switchboard sized for the house you are actually building, with RCD protection on every circuit and room to add to it later.
- Data and TV. Network cabling to the rooms that need it, a proper location for the router and the fibre termination, and TV points where the screens will actually go.
- Solar and EV ready. The conduit, the cable route and the switchboard space for solar and an EV charger, so adding them later is a small job rather than a rewire.
- Security. Cable runs for CCTV cameras and an alarm system while the walls are open.
- Fit-off. Switches, sockets, lights, fans, the oven and hob connected, everything tested and labelled.
Renovations and Extensions
A renovation is a new build inside an old house, and the old house usually has something to say about it. Older Auckland homes - the villas and bungalows around Mount Eden, Ponsonby and Grey Lynn, the brick-and-tile homes on the Shore - often still have wiring and fuse boards from decades ago. We assess what is there, tell you honestly what can stay and what has to go, and quote the whole job so there are no surprises when the walls come off. A new kitchen or bathroom nearly always means new circuits and, very often, a switchboard upgrade.
Commercial Fit-Outs
Shops, cafes, offices and workshops need the same care and rather more capacity: three-phase supply, distribution boards, commercial lighting, extraction, kitchen equipment, data for the point of sale and the office, and cameras. We work to the fit-out programme and around your opening date, and if that means nights and weekends, that is when we work.
Working With Your Builder
On a new build we will talk directly to your builder about when the framing is ready for us, when the linings go on and when the fit-off can happen, so nobody is waiting on the electrician. If you are the homeowner, put us in touch and we will take it from there. If you are an owner-builder doing it yourself, ask us anything - the questions people think are silly are usually the ones worth asking.

New Build Questions
When should I involve the electrician on a new build?
As early as you have plans. The electrical layout is easiest to change on paper, and the things people wish they had done - more outlets in the kitchen, data to the study, a cable run for the EV charger - cost almost nothing to add before the framing is closed in and a great deal afterwards.
Can you quote from the plans?
Yes. For a new build we can price accurately from the floor plan, the elevations and the electrical layout, because there is no existing wiring to inspect. For a renovation we need to see the house first.
Should I wire the house for solar and an EV charger even if I am not getting them yet?
Yes, and it is cheap to do at this stage: a conduit from the roof to the switchboard location, a cable route to the garage, and a switchboard with the space for it. When you do add solar or a charger it becomes a straightforward job rather than a rewire.
Do you do the whole electrical job, or just parts of it?
The whole job: pre-wire, switchboard, fit-off, data, security, heat pump and the certification. We would rather do all of it than share it, because one electrician responsible for the whole house is what makes it work as one system.
