The Everyday Electrical Work

Not every job is a new build or a solar system. Most of what an electrician does in a week is the everyday work that keeps a house or a shop running: the kitchen that is being renovated, the room that needs more power points, the light that has stopped working, the outdoor lighting that was never quite right. We do all of it, for homes and for businesses, and we do it seven days a week.

For Your Home

  • New kitchens and bathrooms. Oven, hob and rangehood circuits, under-cabinet lighting, extra power points where you actually use them, heated towel rails, extraction fans, and the switchboard work a new kitchen nearly always needs.
  • Lighting. New light fittings, LED downlights, dimmers, outdoor and garden lighting, sensor lights and security lighting.
  • Power points and switches. More outlets, USB outlets, outdoor and weatherproof points, and replacing old, cracked or discoloured fittings.
  • Rewires and partial rewires. Replacing old or damaged wiring in older Auckland homes, room by room or the whole house.
  • Hot water, heating and appliances. Hot water cylinder wiring, heated floors, spa and pool circuits, and connecting new appliances properly.
  • Smoke alarms and safety. Interconnected smoke alarms, RCD protection, and safety checks when you buy, sell or rent a property.
  • Repairs and fault-finding. Tripping breakers, dead circuits, flickering lights and the intermittent faults that are hard to find - we track them down and fix them.

For Your Business

  • Fit-outs and alterations. New premises, moving into an existing one, or reconfiguring the space you have.
  • Commercial lighting. LED upgrades, emergency lighting and exit signs, shop and display lighting, exterior and car park lighting.
  • Power for equipment. Dedicated circuits and three-phase supply for kitchen equipment, machinery and workshop tools.
  • Maintenance. Scheduled testing and repairs, so problems are found on our visit rather than on your busiest day.
  • Data and security. Network cabling, wifi, cameras and alarms - see data, wifi and audio visual.

Maintenance and Repairs, Seven Days

Electrical faults do not keep office hours. If the power is off, a breaker will not reset, something smells hot or a socket has scorched, ring us - we are open seven days, 7am to 7pm. For anything sparking, smoking or burning, switch it off at the board if you can do so safely and call straight away.

When the fault is the switchboard itself or a full renovation or new build.

General Electrical Questions

Can I do small electrical jobs myself?

In New Zealand a homeowner may do a limited range of work on their own home, such as replacing a light fitting or a switch like for like, and it must still be tested. New circuits, switchboard work, anything in a bathroom or outdoors, and all work on a rental or commercial property has to be done by an electrician. If in doubt, ring and ask - it costs nothing.

Why does my breaker keep tripping?

Either the circuit is overloaded, an appliance on it has a fault, or the wiring has a fault. An RCD tripping usually means current is leaking to earth somewhere - a damp outdoor socket, a failing appliance element, or damaged cable. We find which it is rather than just resetting it.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

We tell you how the job will be charged before we come out, whether that is a fixed price for the job or an hourly rate with the first hour stated. There are no surprises on the invoice.

Do you do rental property safety checks?

Yes. We check the switchboard, RCD protection, smoke alarms and the general condition of the installation, fix what needs fixing, and give you the paperwork for your records and your tenants.
